What is targeted grazing?

Targeted or prescribed managed grazing is vegetation management using livestock. Here in California, the primary goal is fine and ladder fuel reduction in our fire-adapted ecosystem. Sheep and goats convert fire fuel into flesh and manure.

why targeted grazing?

A well-managed herd can safely work in areas that are inaccessible, hazardous or not cost effective for heavy machinery and skilled labor crews. Livestock are less energy intensive and more beautiful too.

who needs A grazer?

Communities need grazers! Public agencies, governments, community services districts and home owners associations hire grazers to maintain fire breaks and irradiate invasive species. Private land owners and home owner’s associations hire grazers to keep their properties in compliance with state and county vegetation ordinances and to create defensible space around homes and community infrastructure. Farmers, ranchers and landscape managers hire grazers for weed abatement and regenerative soil fertility. Sound like you? Let’s chat!
